Roadless Speaker Tips


Introduction

  • Thanks to the Task Force and Meeting Organizers
  • Tell them what you are going to tell them (Talking Points)
  • Tell them what you need to tell them (Facts that you can back up)
  • Tell them what you told them (Summary)
  • Close and call to action (What we want to happen)

Helpful hints to make you more comfortable

  • Make your speech font size 24, 26, or bigger (More pages)
    Easier to read the speech and keep eye contact with the Task Force
  • Speak a little slower and deeper to be clear
    They want to know what you think about the issue
  • Practice the speech 10 times to yourself to get comfortable
  • Practice the speech 5 times to your family or friends
  • Practice 2 times just before you meet with the Task Force
  • During the question session from the Task Force

If you do not know the correct answer . . .

  • Answer by saying I will have to get back to Task force with the correct answer
  • Then make sure you do

If you feel trapped by a question . . .

  • Go to the positive ways motorized rec. is working to better the situation
    Stay the Trail, Tread Lightly, State Trail Patrol, Billboards, OHV Workshops
  • Stay on Task (Roadless Issues) do not become sidetracked
