June 22nd Trail Work Day (1/2 day)

Thank you for opening the Colorado Backcountry Trailriders Alliance e-mail.  The CBTRA is reaching out with a rider request and some brief news.

The Request:  We have over 600 riders on our contact list, but only about 3% participate and about the same amount actually sign up as members. So when I find myself in meetings with the Forest Service and Colorado Parks & Wildlife agency do I tell them I represent 15 people or 600?  Help me help you; Join us, its easy just go the CBTRA.org website and follow the prompts.

Next:  On opening day (JUNE 22nd) we have a half-day trail workday scheduled. The Place is the Basalt Mountain trailhead parking lot and we plan on meeting at 8:30AM, the plan is to ride in to the Lone Pine area where the Forest service will have pre staged tools. If you prefer not to ride and rather walk in there a limited number of seats available. Contact the CBTRA website for additional information or e-mail gregf@sopris.net with any questions.

Brief News, CBTRA attended no less than 18 (probably more) meetings on the Single Track trail rider’s behalf. We have made our presence known with our local US Forest office (4 Trail days in 2013), numerous meetings with Wilderness Workshop and with Jill Ozarski, Senator Udall’s natural resources policy advisor. Some progress was made but we are not done yet. Progress was made in the Triangle Peak/Lenado area. In the future we hope to expand the riding opportunities in this area. We have met with State of Colorado Parks and Wildlife rangers specifically about the Green Gate trail. The Project has passed the public scoping phase and has moved on to the Environmental Assessment phase.  In order to keep this blast brief I will end it here. Check Our Website for continual updates.

PLEASE Join US. We really need some help this upcoming SUNDAY JUNE 22

Sincerely,
Greg Fitzpatrick
