Hey Everybody, We are having our first trail/work day for 2019 with the Forrest Service on Basalt Mountain, Sunday July 28th. We will be meeting at 9:00 a.m. at the Red Table OHV park lot off of Cottonwood Pass Rd. Sounds like we're gonna be doing some work just off of Red Table Rd and Mile Post 1 Trail.
We usually work for approximately 3-4 hrs then after go for a little ride and then meet at New York Pizza in El Jebel for Pizza and Beverages, provided by CBTRA and Earl Rogers. I believe the area we will be working on is very close to Red Table Rd. If you don't want to ride afterwards you can probably just wear work clothes and ride from the park lot to trail head and walk in. I would guess we will meet at NYP around 4:30.
This is a great way to get involved with our local community, the White River National Forrest Service and to help preserve our great single track trail systems that we have in the Roaring Fork Valley.
Please bring the whole family, the more representation we can show the better.
On another topic, I've been talking with the Aspen Ranger District about CBTRA getting more involved with the Castle Creek area and Express Creek Rd. I would like to know what your thoughts are about this and if you think it's a good idea? I've been told, Pitkin County would like to have a user group get involved in this area since there are no groups involved now. I know the Gunnison Goats take care of a lot of the High Country trails on the other side of Star Pass but there are no user groups between Star and Express Creek Rd involved currently.
Regards,
Dave Fond
